Partnering with Alaskan breweries, distilleries, and meaderies to encourage Alaskans to boat safely.

Save It For The Shore.

The Problem

Alcohol is the leading contributing factor in fatal boating incidents nationwide. In Alaska, alcohol is a known factor in at least 37% of our recreational boating fatalities over the last 30 years. Drinking while boating is especially dangerous in Alaska due to the cold temperature of the water.

The Challenge

Unlike drinking and driving a car, boating and drinking is very socially acceptable. The challenge is getting people to reconsider a behavior they have already made a habit. Drinking a cold beer on the boat may seem harmless, but our brewery partners are helping us explain why re-examining this idea is important.

The Campaign

Save It For The Shore is all about promoting safe, fun, and responsible recreation in our Alaskan backyard! Many people don’t know that boating under the influence is both dangerous and illegal. Our goal is to reduce the number of alcohol-related incidents and fatalities in our state.
